I finished the scarf. It was really neat to do the whole process myself from spinning the yarn to knitting it up into something pretty and useful. I really like the Helix pattern and may make more but in a more delicate or lightweight yarn.
It is short so it is more like a loose cowl but it will keep my neck warm and not add extra bulk under my coat.

Great job! I knit a Helix last year and really enjoyed it.
It turned out great. If the the length isn't as long as you like, you could always add a sassy button to help hold it and make it more of a cowl type scarf.
I really like the colors and texture.
